This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on BoldMeteor (boldmeteor.com), who sets them, what they do, how long they last and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as pixels, local storage and device identifiers, work in a similar way. A cookie set by the site you are visiting is a first-party cookie; one set by another company, such as an advertising partner, is a third-party cookie.
Our own cookie
| Name | Set by | Type and purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRC_CMS_SID | BoldMeteor (first party) | Strictly necessary. Keeps the technical session of the website working and secure. It is not used for advertising or to follow you across sites. | Until you close your browser |
Advertising cookies from Google and its partners
When ads are displayed, Google and other ad companies working through Google's platform may set or read the cookies below, and similar identifiers, to serve ads, limit repetition, measure results, prevent fraud and, depending on your choices, personalize ads. Where the law requires consent (for example, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Google uses them to personalize ads only with your consent.
| Name | Set by | Type and purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| __gads | Google, on boldmeteor.com | Advertising. Lets the site show Google ads, limits how often you see the same ad and measures ad performance. | 13 months |
| IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Advertising. Used to show Google ads on sites like ours and, if you have personalized ads turned on, to personalize them. | 13 months in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK; 24 months elsewhere |
| id | Google (doubleclick.net) | Advertising. Remembers that you turned personalized ads off, so Google does not show you personalized ads. | 13 months in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK; 24 months elsewhere |
| DSID | Google (doubleclick.net) | Advertising. Recognizes signed-in Google users so their ad personalization settings are respected. | 2 weeks |
Google lists the cookies it uses, their purposes and how long they last on How Google uses cookies. Other ad companies that buy ad space through Google may use their own cookies; you can opt out of many of them with the tools below.
How to control cookies
- Turn off personalized ads: My Ad Center (Google), the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out and Your Online Choices (EDAA).
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. On phones, you can also reset or limit your device's advertising identifier in the device settings.
Blocking cookies does not stop you from reading BoldMeteor. You may still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
